Clinton Garden Club

grow food, eat healthy, and take care of the environment

Service Description

At the SOL Learning Center's Clinton Garden Club, we're all about teaching kids how to grow food, eat healthy, and take care of the environment right here in our community! We believe that by starting at home and with our neighbors, we can make a big difference in making sure everyone has enough good food to eat and our planet stays healthy. Our fun program helps kids learn important stuff like growing their food and being good stewards of the Earth. The Clinton Garden Club is designed to teach your child the entire growing cycle, from seedling to harvest. This season we will incorporate a farm-to-table component where children prepare dishes from the crops we grow in the garden. Children will also learn to prepare salves, tinctures, and tea using herbs grown in the garden. Members will receive a commemorative t-shirt. All tools and supplies are provided. Registration is open for children ages 6 to 18 (grades 1 - 12) Ask about our community service option for high school students* Course Summary: April: Soil basics/ Composting May: Plant life cycle June: Problem identification and prevention July: Companion planting / Succession planting August: Harvesting, preparing, and storing September: Agricultural Practices October: Garden Planning / End of Season Celebration Sessions are hosted bi-weekly on Fridays beginning April 5th from 11 am to 1:30 pm Membership fee: $60 Per month
